FAQs - Contractor payments
Can I pay contractors in any currency?
Yes, you can pay contractors in any currency that aligns with their tax residency. During onboarding, you can select their currency, and they must raise invoices in that currency. You can pay in your preferred billing currency, and our system will convert the currency.
Why hasn't the contractor received the payment yet?
Possible reasons for delayed payment include:
Incorrect account details provided
Contractor's country's banking policies restrict certain currencies
Banks require additional information for identity verification
International transfers (SWIFT) can take 5-7 business days
Transfers to countries like Russia or the Maldives may take up to 10 business days due to local partners
What types of contractors does Multiplier support?
Multiplier supports all contractors who raise an invoice, regardless of whether they work on a time-based or milestone-based basis.
What's the difference between a contractor and a freelancer?
Contractors are hired for specific tasks for a set period and often work under the company's direction. Freelancers are self-employed, work with multiple clients, and have more control over their work. Both can be considered contractors by Multiplier, and we facilitate payments for both.
Does Multiplier support contractors in all countries?
We support contractors in most countries, except those on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) blacklist.
Should contractors raise an invoice to get paid?
Yes, contractors must raise an invoice on the Multiplier platform to receive payment.
What is the payroll policy for independent contractors?
Payroll is mainly for full-time employees. Multiplier facilitates contractor payments but doesn't handle contractor taxes. Contractors can raise invoices and expenses anytime, and Multiplier processes payments upon receiving funds from the employer.
