Offboarding is the formal separation of an employee and a company through resignation, termination, or even retirement.
To offboard an employee or freelancer on the Multiplier platform, follow the below steps:
Step 1: Click on ‘Team’ on the left sidebar.
Step 2: Navigate to the ‘Active’ tab and select the employee who must be offboarded.
Step 3: Click on ‘Offboard Employee/Freelancer’ in the top right corner.
Step 4: Select the reason for offboarding among the 3 options and click on ‘Continue’.
Resignation - When an employee officially resigns from the job
Termination - When the employee is being terminated by you
Did not join - When an employee has accepted the offer letter & has been activated on Multiplier but does not join the company. This option will only be available 7 days from the employee's start date on the platform.
Note that the next steps will vary depending on the reason for offboarding. For a step-by-step guide on each reason, click on the appropriate link from below:
Resignation:
Step 5: For resignation, select the desired last working day and upload supporting documents. For instance, an intimation of resignation by the employee, to the manager via email or internal software/tool.
Note - Our team will review the desired last working day in accordance with local labor law compliance and get back to you in case the last working day needs to be changed.
5.1 You must acknowledge that the last working day has been discussed with the employee.
5.2 Click on ‘Continue’.
Step 6: You must acknowledge that you will pay the employee for their unused leaves as required by law.
You must also acknowledge to add & approve any expenses and pay supplements before the employee’s last working day.
The next steps in the offboarding process are as follows:
Confirmation on the last working day to comply with labour laws
Multiplier will validate the supporting documents & the feasibility of the last working day. If the desired last working day does not comply with the country’s labour laws, we may need to adjust the date accordingly. Our team will get in touch with you to finalize the new date.
Email notification on employee’s last working day
Once the last working day has been finalized with common consent between the company admin and Multiplier, we will send an email to the employee confirming the last working date and the next steps in the offboarding process.
Full and final settlement (payment) process
Multiplier will process the full and final settlement to the employee within 30 days after the last working day.
Exit documents shared via email and dashboard
Multiplier will send all the relevant exit documents to the employee via email. These documents will also be available for download on the employee’s Multiplier platform.
6.1: Click on ‘Initiate Offboarding’.
Offboarding timeline for resignation
Once offboarded, please note that Multiplier’s lead time will vary depending on when you have offboarded the employee and the employee’s payroll cycle (monthly or semi-monthly).

Step 5: For termination, select the clause based on which the employee is being terminated from the given options.

5.1: Mention the termination reason and click on ‘Continue’.
Step 6: Select the desired last working day and upload supporting documents. For instance, a warning letter sent to the employee, a company-wide email regarding termination, or any document that confirms your company's termination process.
Note -
Our team will review the desired last working day in accordance with local labor laws and get back to you in case the last working day needs to be changed.
For any termination, please consult Multiplier before you communicate with the employee. All written termination communications will be managed by Multiplier, the Employer of Record. Please notify Multiplier as soon as possible, and we will guide you on when you can communicate with the employee after we have aligned on the termination process.
6.1: You must acknowledge that the last working day has been discussed with the employee.
6.2: Click on ‘Continue.’
Step 7: If you would like to pay severance to the employee, select the duration for which you want to pay from the drop-down option.
7.1: You must acknowledge that you will pay the employee for their unused leaves as required by law.
7.2: You must also acknowledge to add & approve any expenses and pay supplements before the employee’s last working day.
7.3 - Add any additional notes. This step is optional.
The next steps in the offboarding process are as follows:
Confirmation on the last working day to comply with labour laws
Multiplier will validate the supporting documents & the feasibility of the last working day. If the desired last working day does not comply with the country’s labour laws, we may need to adjust the date accordingly. Our team will get in touch with you to finalize the new date.
Email notification on employee’s last working day
Once the last working day has been finalized with common consent between the company admin and Multiplier, we will send an email to the employee confirming the last working date and the next steps in the offboarding process.
Full and final settlement (payment) process
Multiplier will process the full and final settlement to the employee within 30 days after the last working day.
Exit documents shared via email and dashboard
Multiplier will send all the relevant exit documents to the employee via email. These documents will also be available for download on the employee’s Multiplier platform.
Step 8: Click on ‘Initiate Offboarding.’

Step 5: If the employee does not join the company within 7 days after the start date, you will be able to select the ‘Did not join’ reason.
Select the reason and optionally add any notes that may be useful for the team.
Step 6: Click on ‘Yes, Confirm’ to end the contract.

Offboarding timeline: Freelancers and (Payroll & Benefits) employees
The lead time for freelancers and payroll and benefits employees is 7 days from the date on which the member is being offboarded.

Reschedule/Cancel Offboarding
In case you want to reschedule/cancel the offboarding of an employee/freelancer, you can do so directly from the platform.
Cancel Offboarding -
Step 1: Go to the Offboarding tab under the Team view on the left sidebar and click on ‘Cancel Offboarding’.
Step 2: Click on ‘Yes, cancel.’
Reschedule Offboarding -
Step 1: Go to the Offboarding tab under the Team view on the left sidebar and click on ‘Reschedule Offboarding.’
Step 2: Select the new last working day.
2.1: Upload supporting documents and acknowledge that you have discussed the last working day with the employee.
2.2: Click on ‘Initiate Offboarding’.
