Who is a reporting manager?

A reporting manager is an individual responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of their team and also acts as the primary point of contact for their direct reports. When you designate an employee as a manager in the Multiplier platform, you allow certain permissions to that employee.

What additional permissions does a reporting manager have?

  • A manager can view basic info, compensation details, past time off and expenses

  • A manager can approve leaves and timesheets

How to designate an employee as a reporting manager

You can now designate an employee as a reporting manager and grant them managerial permissions by following one of these two options:

Option 1: By assigning a manager to employee/s.

Step 1: On the side navigation bar click on ‘Team’ and among the list of active employees find an employee (you can use the search bar) for whom you want to assign a manager and click on his/her name.

Step 2: Once you are on the employee details page, go to the ‘Employment’ section.

Step 3: Scroll down to ‘Work info’ and click on the pen icon to assign a manager.

Note: If an employee already has a reporting manager assigned to them, this feature will allow you to reassign a new reporting manager.

Step 4: Select the checkbox against the employee who you want to assign as a manager and click on ‘Add’.

A confirmation message “Assigned manager successfully” will be displayed on the screen. The employee added as the reporting manager will now have access to all the managerial permissions.

Option 2: By adding direct reports to an employee

Step 1: On the side navigation bar click on ‘Team’ and among the list of active employees find the employee you want to assign as a manager and click on his/her name.

Step 2: Once you are on the employee details page, go to the ‘Employment’ section.

Step 3: Scroll down to ‘Work info’ and switch on the toggle button next to ‘Direct reports’. By doing so, you agree to designate the employee as a reporting manager and add direct reports.

Step 4: Read the permissions that will be granted to the employee on becoming a reporting manager and click on ‘Continue’.

A confirmation message “Manager permissions activated” will be displayed on the screen and you will see the toggle is switched on now.

Note: You can also deactivate manager permissions by switching off the toggle button. However, this can only be done if no direct reports have been added. Once direct reports are assigned, you will need to reassign them to a new manager before the previous manager can be released from their duties.

Step 5: To add direct reports, click on ‘Add direct reports’

Step 6: Select the checkbox next to the employees you want to add and click on ‘Add’.

A confirmation message “Assigned reports successfully” will be displayed on the screen and you can see how many direct reports have been added. You can add more direct reports by clicking on ‘Edit reports’.

How to reassign a different reporting manager

If you want to release Manager A from their managerial duties, you will need to reassign a new manager for all of Manager A's direct reports.

To do this, follow one of the two options mentioned above. Once the process is completed, all direct reports will be migrated to the new manager and removed from Manager A's profile.
